Carved By Hate - The Scars We Wear

This new series retains the graphic core of the original work: the documentation of hurtful language carved onto skin. These words, such as 'Faggot,' are artefacts of archaic hatred—easily spoken yet possessing the power to inflict lifelong wounds. However, these images are no longer isolated; they are now situated within specific environments. By placing the models in location, I emphasise that this hate does not exist in a vacuum; it is a prevalent force that poisons our public, domestic, and historical spaces. The setting becomes a silent witness to the ongoing legacy of othering and persecution. Crucially, this series deliberately shares queer stories; some are portrayed by allies, who bear the visual weight of the trauma on behalf of those individuals who did not feel safe or comfortable coming forward, transforming their silence into visible testimsony.
